Goodbye Misky

There are many different kinds of losses/deaths in this world....
There's the loss/death of a friendship, the loss/death of a marriage, the loss/death of innocence, the loss/death of a family member, the loss/death of a friend, the loss/death of a pet, etc...

In two weeks, my family will be moving down South to the area of Portugal called the Algarve and as my parents look for a mobile home, they'll be staying with our friends, the Matos (Edna, Paulo, Joshua, and Nelson), who have become family to us. In the last two months or so, my dad's been going down to the Alrgarve about every other weekend to move down some of our things. We arrived at Edna and Paulo's house yesterday and we'll be leaving Wednesday (tomorrow). Hopefully, this will have been the last trip down before the final move which will happen at the end of this month.
During these trips down here, my family has witnessed Edna and Paul's 11 year old dog Misky slowly getting worse. She has a tumor in her stomach that has slowly gotten bigger and bigger and has spread to other parts of her body. The vet had actually said in January that she wasn't going to live for more than a month, but it's been six months now and it's gotten to the point where Misky can hardly move, doesn't want to eat, and can't control her bladder. It's heartbreaking, especially for Edna.
Putting pets down isn't a normal thing here in Europe, but just now Paulo and Edna slowly lifted Misky up and took her out to the car to bring her to the vet. It's so sad and hard, but ending Misky's misery is better than keeping her suffering...
Edna had Misky before she met Paulo, so this has been their dog their whole married life.
Please pray for the whole family during this hard time of loss. As Paulo said, it's easier to lose a pet because of an accident, than to have to bring her to the vet to have him end her life. But at least they will be with her when it happens...
Death and loss are such a hard thing.

Here are pictures of Misky and the Matos.
