There's this kid (who's actually my age) who is in our newer men's program that has been coming in my office a lot. He is rude and has a big attitude problem. Almost every time he's done talking to our director or other staff people, he angrily talks to himself swearing like crazy, though he isn't insane (like so many others in the program), he's just young and struggling.
Right now he's waiting to talk to our director and has his headphones on, listening to some rap song and singing along out loud. The lyrics are pretty bad.
He usually gets on my nerves, but now, after reading this article about him, which is on our shelter's blog, I feel bad for him. This is an on-going thing here, you get annoyed with people but then you realize that they're lives are so messed up.
I always tell people that I really don't know how our director and other staff members have been here for so many years and are still good at what they do, and patient and loving with all these broken people...Ministry is not an easy job.
P.S. During our get away, some of the ladies watched "Ever After", and there was one scene I watched, where Cinderella (Drew Barrymore) says this really good line to the Prince:
"If you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners corrupted from infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded, sire, but that you first make thieves and then punish them?"
