Erica and Josh got back from India yesterday after 60 hours of traveling! So, today, since I still feel a little sick (I was sick during the weekend), I spent the day with them, hanging out, watching movies, helping Erica stay awake (India is 12 hours ahead), and listening to all of their crazy stories.
I love listening to stories! Especially crazy ones that involve God's faithfulness!
While they were over there, their friend Carlton told them the story about when, last year, during the monsoon season, the village in which the orphanage he made is, was told to evacuate 'cause it was getting flooded and was dangerous. The kids in the orphanage, however, had no way to leave (there are 50 kids and only 5 adults overseeing them!!), so Carlton and a friend of his traveled into the village while everyone was leaving it and telling them to not go in, and went to the orphanage. When they got there, the water hadn't reached them yet, so, after getting all the kids up in the higher floor, Carlton put a stick in the ground in front of the building, prayed over it, and then went to sleep on the front steps. (He told Josh and Erica that he did this 'cause if the water reached them, he wanted to be the first to die, 'cause he wouldn't have been able to handle seeing the kids dieing). When he woke up, there was water up to where the stick was and all around, but none of it touched the orphanage. Higher ground was flooded and the whole village was flooded, but they were safe! Isn't that crazy and amazing?!?
